Expert Profiles…

Peter Jarrett is a leading Dyscalculia and Maths expert, he is responsible for the current definition (Jarrett 2019) of Dyscalculia, recognised by SASC and the British Dyslexia Association. An author, keynote speaker, and Director of Tutorum, he is Chair of The British Dyslexia Association’s Dyscalculia Committee.

Dr Anne Margaret Smith is a leading expert in teaching those who speak English as an Additional Language. Dr Smith set up ELT well in 2005 in order to bridge the gap between the two fields of education that she is passionate about: English Language Teaching and support for learners with SpLDs (such as dyslexia).

Katrina Cochrane is an author, specialist teacher and assessor. She was a member of Dyslexia Action and then went on to become Head of Education at the British Dyslexia Association and still contributes to their specialist training and courses. She is now Director of Positive Dyslexia.

Sue Flohr MBE, is Head of Policy at the British Dyslexia Association. She previously spent over 20 years as Head of the BDA Helpline whereby she supported families and professionals with Dyslexia and has campaigned tirelessly on behalf of those with dyslexia. She was awarded MBE in recognition of her services to Dyslexia.

Aimee Cave is SENDCO iwith sustained experience of creating good provision in her school, including orchestrating the school becoming the first ADHD friendly school in Yorkshire. Aimee has completed her NASENCO Award, is an Accredited Attachment Lead and has recently been trained by Whole School SEND in reviewing MATs using the MAT Review Guide.

 

Arran Smith is part of the Inclusion Team at Microsoft and delivers free training to schools and organisations around how they can best use the free facilities on Microsoft 365 to support their neurodiverse learners. He has dyslexia and is passionate about inclusion and empowering everyone’s potential.
