For Teachers and SENCOs
Using our Results Portal teachers and SENCOs are able to closely monitor the reading progress of individual pupils, and ensure their interventions are having the intended impact!
We understand that traditional reading assessments tend to be resource intensive and subjective. Therefore, our assessment gives an entirely objective picture of reading in a matter of minutes and removes the need for any administrative input.
” The results have enabled us to plan more targeted interventions and adapt quality first teaching to meet the needs of all children “
Jayne Mullane – Headteacher – Mersey Vale Primary School
Our paperless assessment is easy to set up and manage within the day to day running of a school, meaning teachers can dedicate their time to providing the interventions pupils require, as opposed to marking paper-based tests and manually evaluating reading themselves.
Each child is given a percentile score, a reading age, a year level equivalent a Lexplore and standard score. An individual measurement is also given for each reading component, displayed alongside previous results, the school average and the national average. This enables teachers to monitor the most minor progress at a granular level. They can also make quick comparisons within their classes and to national averages.
” Being able to see the child’s eyes move has been fascinating, insightful and at times mesmerising.“
Adam Luxford – Data Protection Officer – Freemantle C of E Community Academy
By combining audio and eye movement recordings we are also able to provide a unique visual representation of each pupil’s silent and oral reading, which can be used to tailor support to their specific needs and back up teacher’s professional judgements. So far these results have proven especially useful for sharing information with parents and also teachers during transition meetings between classes.
Reading speed scores, in particular, have proven to be useful for teachers building a picture of candidate needs for exam access arrangements. Therefore, results for both aloud and silently are displayed alongside a pupil’s overall reading profile.
” Lexplore is an excellent tool for assessing whether pupils require extra time in tests. You can quickly determine whether they are reading quickly enough and know that you will have an accurate, objective answer alongside the evidence base to prove this. “
Aimee Cave – SENCO and Assistant Head – Pocklington Junior School
Our machine learning platform is also able to provide a sticky words list for each pupil based on their fixation time. Teachers can then clearly see whether pupils are struggling to decode particular graphemes or phonemes.
Each pupil’s results also links directly to dedicated interventions from our reading development programme, Lexplore Intensive.
